Dr. Sterkin attended Los Angeles Pierce College in 1977, California State University, Northridge from 1977-1979 and the University of California, Los Angeles from 1979-1980. Dr. Sterkin received his MD from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1984. He served his general surgery residency at the University of Illinois Affiliated Hospitals from 1985-1989. His plastic surgery residency was fulfilled at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals from 1989-1991. Dr. Sterkin was a clinical instructor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals from 1991-1992
Dr. Sterkin was board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1993, and The American Board of Surgery in 1990
