Dr. Sofola served as the Flight Surgeon aboard the USS Enterprise, and continues as Flight Surgeon on Reserve status for a jet squadron at Andrews Air Force Base. He is an assistant professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences.
Dr. Sofola is the former Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington, DC. He is one of the founders of Faces of Honor program of The American Academic of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Foundation, whose purpose is to offer pro bono medical and surgical expertise to veterans who were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan and suffered face or neck injuries.
Dr. Sofola has published numerous articles based on his research in respected medical journals, and has presented at national and international medical conferences. He has been the recipient of numerous prestigious professional and military awards and commendations.
