Dr. Wigoda was raised in South Florida and spent his high school years in Miami before venturing to Amherst College in Amherst, MA for his undergraduate degree. He majored in neuroscience and graduated Magna Com Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dr. Wigoda completed medical school at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, at the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world.
Dr. Wigoda completed his internship and plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, the top plastic surgery training center in the country. He was selected for only position available in this program from a national pool of over 100 applicants. While there, he trained under some of the top cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons in the country. He scored in the top 5 percent on the national in-service exam, testing plastic surgery knowledge, and was elected Chief Resident of Parkland Memorial Hospital by his colleagues.
Continuing his education, Dr. Wigoda moved to Salt Lake City, UT, to train at the University of Utah Medical Center, one of the nation’s top hospitals. There he completed a one-year fellowship in hand surgery and microsurgery, working with the Department of Orthopedics and the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Wigoda then returned to Florida and started his plastic surgery practice in Fort Lauderdale. Earning distinction among his peers, Dr. Wigoda was named Chief of Plastic Surgery of Broward General Medical Center, the primary trauma center for Broward County and Fort Lauderdale. He has received grants to fund research projects and been published more than ten times in leading national plastic and reconstructive surgery publications. Additionally, he has been named one of “America’s Top Surgeons” consistently from 2001 to present by the Consumer Research Council of America.
Dr. Wigoda has been licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Utah and Florida, and is certified as a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He has hospital affiliations at Broward General Medical Center, Holy Cross Hospital and North Broward Medical Center. He is also fluent and Spanish and welcomes patients who are not native English speakers.
