Breast Augmentation & Breast Implant Information Web - Frequently Asked Questions
Cost/Price - How much will my breast augmentation cost? For specific information on price, contact a surgeon near you. Click here to view a list of board-certified plastic surgeons in your area. This is one of the questions I receive by email most frequently. Although prices are so divergent throughout the country, the general answer is that the nationwide cost of breast augmentation from pre-op to post-op is 6,000 - $8,000 on the average.
When you ask your doctor "how much" your procedure will cost, be sure to ask if the price they give you includes the cost of the implants, anesthesia, hospital costs (if applicable) and follow-up consultations. Many times, you'll be quoted just the surgeon's fee. Here are the 2006 National Average surgeon's fees for various procedures, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The following prices do NOT include anesthesia, implants, OR, etc.:
SURGEON'S FEES ONLY: Abdominoplasty $5,263 Blepharoplasty $2,882 Breast augmentation - silicone gel implants $3,813 Breast augmentation - saline implants $3,544 Breast lift $4,258 Breast reduction (women)* $5,429 Buttock augmentation $4,788 Buttock lift $4,664 Cheek implants $2,788 Chin augmentation $2,142 Facelift $6,532 Forehead lift $3,255 Gynecomastia, treatment of (male breast reduction) $3,409 Hair transplantation $4,265 Lip augmentation (other than injectable materials) $1,726 Lipoplasty: Suction-assisted $2,868 Lipoplasty: Ultrasound-assisted $2,936 Lower body lift $7,708 Otoplasty $3,063 Rhinoplasty $4,277 Thigh lift $4,589 Upper arm lift $3,633
ASAPS NOTE: Individual physician/surgeon fees within regions may vary depending on whether the practice is in an urban, suburban or rural area. Figures are for physician/surgeon fees only and do not include fees for the surgical facility, anesthesia, medical tests, prescriptions, surgical garments, or other miscellaneous costs related to surgery. Figures for procedures often performed on more than one site in the same session reflect typical fees for one site.
Adjustments: According to ASAPS patients in New England / Mid Atlantic states (CT, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI and VT) should add about 10 % to the prices below. Patients in the North Central states (IA,IL,IN,KS,MI,MN,MO,NE,ND,OH,SD,WI) should deduct about 8 %. Patients in the South Atlantic states (DE,DC,FL,GA,MD,NC,SC,VA,WV) should deduct 4 %. Patients in South Central states (AL,AR,KY,LA,MS,OK,TN,TX) should deduct 4 % and patients in the Mountain and Pacific states AK,AZ,CA,CO,HI,ID,MT,NV,NM,OR,UT,WA,WY should add 6%.
Cost of Having Implants redone or replaced. Please be sure to find out in advance what provisions will be made if you are unhappy. Will a revision or replacement be done for full, partial or no discount? How much of a replacement and under what conditions are they covered by a manufacturer's warranty are questions that need to be asked of each surgeon.
Cost of Multiple Procedures
Having more than one surgery at a time can reduce the overall cost. Be sure to check with your doctor about the options available and the risks of combining more than one procedure.
